Worship in Action | Fourth Sunday

March 23, 2025

Fourth Sundays provides dynamic connection with one another as we work together with our hands, hearts, and minds. We begin our time with a gathering in main space and an invitation to our various stations to engage in "worship in action." This month we are excited to provide these ways of engagement in loving our neighbors. Each of these are for all ages:

  • NEW:  Goodwill Outlet bins on 4th Sunday to  gather essential clothing for the young people who visit SYM, the only U District drop-in center that serves youth throughout the day.  Their number of clients has increased
Needed items:  sweatpants, smaller waist belts, and jeans

We will gather & meet at 415 Westlake at 10 am, pile in cars to go to Goodwill, and grab Krispy Kreme donuts after our shopping adventure.  If you have any questions feel free to reach out to Phil (phil@unionchurchseattle.org)

Brunch Boxes for Behnke House (residency for people receiving treatment at Fred Hutch). THIS month we will prepare and serve in person!  Hurray!!
Join at 9 am to cook for 50 people.
                  10:30 am to help serve

Address: 207 Pontius Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109

WOrship in Action from home

Grab the Sunday paper or your phone and your Bible, read a couple of Psalms, then a news story. From a space Informed by the psalms you read, pray for the story.

Perhaps this is a Sunday when you need time at home and in your neighborhood to rest, reach out to a neighbor, take a walk in nature, garden, write a letter, create. We would love to hear your ideas of how you’ve discovered ways to worship in action. .

Luke 6:27-38
Read this three times.

1) What is a word or phrase that catches your attention?
2) What is an emotion that this passage stirs within you? What is God revealing as you sit with this emotion?
3) What is an invitation or prayer for you as you receive this passage?

Fourth Sundays, Worship in Action, are an invitation to live and worship with imagination and hope, providing a way for us to come alongside our neighbors in South Lake Union, in our individual neighborhoods, and beyond. They are ever-expansive, and we hope that you can live into worship in action holistically, as a whole person, loving God and neighbor as yourself every day of the week.

“Jesus never told the world to GO to church; he told the church to go to the world.”
